M&R Electronic Systems, Inc. was founded in 1950 by Mike Friedman and Richard Willens. During the early years, the company specialized in repairing television sets and soon began to do installations of home TV antennas. During the next 30 years, the company expanded their expertise and became proficient in the design and installation of master TV antenna systems, fire alarm systems, intercom systems, telephone wiring, sound systems, access control systems and video surveillance systems.

In 1981, Mr. Friedman’s son-in-law, Richard Superfine joined the company. In the ensuing years the company expanded its customer base to include developers, electrical contractors and management companies. Residential and commercial security system installations and central station monitoring were added to the list of services provided by the company.

In 1995, Mr. Friedman retired, and Mr. Superfine purchased the business. As the residential high rise sector of the real estate market kept growing, there was a need to add another senior manager. Jim Valentino was hired in 2001 as Vice-President of operations. Having more than 20 years of experience in the security and fire alarm industry, Mr. Valentino brought a wealth of knowledge to M&R as well as a large customer following from his previous positions at Simplex Time Recorder and Honeywell Security. “Having Jim come to work with me has been the best business decision I have ever made” says Mr. Superfine.
In September of 2020 Rich’s sons, Scott & Joel, took over ownership of the family business. Scott (President & Chief Executive Officer) and Joel (Vice-President)are now looking forward to taking the company to another level, and preparing the family business for the fourth generation of ownership.

Over the past 70 years and 3 generations, M&R has always tried to provide the best possible service for its customers. Regardless of how the market changes in the future, providing a great product with great service at a reasonable price will always be our primary goal.
